Powder Springs GA Real Estate

Powder Springs Real Estate has a diverse range of prices, starting with the first time homebuyer all the way up to the luxury executive homebuyer; everyone can find something to accommodate their needs. The city of Powder Springs is located about 20 miles west of downtown Atlanta, 23 miles away from the Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and just 10 miles from the Norfolk Southern Intermodal Facility. Powder Springs is a quaint community that offers a quiet serene, and active lifestyle while having the convenience of all the amenities of a major metropolitan area. The city has a rich and colorful history.

The City of Powder Springs was incorporated as Springville in 1838 in the lands of two Cherokee Indian chiefs, Chief Nose and Chief Ana Kanasta (Sweetwater). The Cherokee Indians were forced off their land and marched to Oklahoma on the Trail of Tears.” Over 4,000 died on the way. The name of Springville was changed to Powder Springs in 1859. The name was derived from the seven springs in the City Limits. The water in these springs contains some 26 minerals. Minerals that turn the surrounding sand black like gunpowder – hence the name Gunpowder Springs, shortened to Powder Springs. During the 1840’s and 1850’s the mild climate, rich soil and inviting springs made the city a health and recreation destination for people from all around.

Powder Springs has a population of just over 15,000. The city has a variety of family oriented events through out the year, such as the Independence Day Celebration, complete with fireworks and all, Fall Family Night which is tons of fun for the kids and adults alike, and there’s nothing like the annual Lighting of the Christmas Tree to kick off the Holiday season. In addition to Powder Springs Real Estate being such a great value we have a great Park System connected by trails that offer a variety of outdoor activities. The Highlight of this trail system is the Silver Comet Trail, which runs about 59 miles and goes from Smyrna to the Georgia/Alabama border through the City of Powder Springs. Built on an abandoned rail right-of –way, this paved trail accommodates bicycles, skaters, and walkers, hikers, joggers and persons with disabilities. Also a portion of the trail has a section open to horses. The premiere park in Powder Springs is Wildhorse Creek Park, which has softball and baseball fields, BMX Track, Equestrian Facility, Walking Trails, Fishing Pond and the Ron Anderson Community Center, and much, much more.
